A Brief Halloween Poem

Beware, it’s that time of year.

Is Treasure Island really a haunted island in Case Inlet? No one knows for sure, but it certainly could be. Most of the summer crowd is gone by now, and it gets mighty dark at night this time of year. With Halloween season upon us, the Island reader board has posted a spooky reminder to the remaining residents in the form of a brief Halloween poem (see photo). Trick or treat?

In Praise of Frozen Beef Stew

Are Yellowstone entrees as good as the episodes?

Before last week I couldn’t have written a post like this one. Not because frozen beef stew should be avoided, but because I hadn’t tried it.

Mysa, Mysa

Is it really 66 degrees F in here?

Last December at Treasure Island, I swapped two of my ancient manual analog thermostats for Mysa smart thermostats (see photo). The changeover included a few surprises, but generally I’m happy with the new units as their second winter approaches.

I Heart Libby

The Libby app is a gateway to library ebooks.

I have known Libby for years. We have a great relationship. In fact, on meeting Libby, I would say it was love at first sight. But after checking the Microsoft Access file I keep of books I’ve read, I discovered that Libby and I could have been going out on a lot more dates than we have so far. Allow me to explain.

Testing the New Banner

The banner sometimes does double duty.

Tomorrow is perhaps the best chance this season for my new Seahawks banner (see photo) to fulfill its primary game day duty. At -7.5 points according to ESPN, the Seahawks (1─1) are heavy favorites over the visiting New Orleans Saints (0─2). So no more waiting. At kickoff time, the banner will be mounted in place doing its best to help the team win, although the weather forecast (rain) shows little need for its secondary purpose.

A Wordle Strategy

More letters needed for the solution?

You can try to solve the daily Wordle puzzle in as few guesses as possible or you can adopt a game plan where the goal is to solve the puzzle period. My Wordle strategy is mainly concerned with getting the right answer. Today’s game (see screen capture) is a good example.
