Justice Is THRIVEing

Justice Delayed, posted in September 2025, described a check forgery case that I’m in involved in as a witness. Today I learned in an email that the criminal part of the case is all but over, at least for me anyway.

According to the assigned legal assistant for the case, Alice L (a pseudonym for the person who forged my check) is “viewing treatment court and has been accepted to join THRIVE if she chooses to do so.” I’m not sure why someone wouldn’t choose treatment court given the circumstances so my guess is that Alice L will. From the prosecutor side of things, it sounds like THRIVE has a better chance of rehabilitating her than the outcome of a criminal trial. THRIVE court is an optional diversion program for survivors of trafficking, exploitation, and/or abuse.

I responded to the legal assistant by wishing Alice L good luck and saying that I hope the THRIVE program will help. Per her reply those sentiments will be passed on to the deputy prosecuting attorney and to Alice L.
