Skipping a Day

First I need a word for rain blowing sideways. Since there isn’t one, I’ll use RBS. Modify it with the word heavy. The combination would explain why I’m skipping my bike ride today. The forecast is for heavy RBS all day.

If I had a ticket to the Saints-Seahawks divisional playoff game later today at CenturyLink Field, I’m not sure what I would wear. Perhaps a wetsuit if I owned one. That’s how bad the weather is. Go Hawks! The 12th Cat (Pi) and I are hoping you prevail in the heavy RBS. Does anyone wish we still had the Kingdome?

This will be the first bike ride I have skipped in 2014. Normally the only things that keep me from riding every day are travel, snow and ice on the road, or mechanical problems. Rain doesn’t keep me off the road often. Today it will. That’s because it is heavy RBS.

Like attending today’s football game with the wrong attire, I don’t have the right biking clothes for riding in heavy RBS. Thus drivers on Rocky Point Road will be spared the sight of my spongelike gray sweatshirt and blue sweatpants. This outfit battled the elements reasonably well in last month’s stretch of 30-degree weather, but they would be overmatched today. Soaked through in seconds.

Hah, it never fails. Start writing about heavy RBS, and the precipitation turns into a wimpy drizzle. Gotta go before the weather gods change their minds. It looks like I can get a bike ride in after all.
